An older Mercer County resident, or an authorized family member, signs up and chooses a daily call time.
A proposed Mercer County community program
Mercer Cares would connect participating older adults with trained community volunteers for a friendly daily phone call—helping neighbors feel connected, supported, and remembered.
Our simple promise
“One call a day can make a difference.”
A thoughtful, consistent process
An older Mercer County resident, or an authorized family member, signs up and chooses a daily call time.
A trained volunteer calls from the designated Mercer Cares location using a program-provided phone.
The volunteer checks on the resident and helps connect them with approved community resources when needed.
If there is no answer, the missed call is documented and another call is attempted about one hour later.
If the second call is unanswered, the resident's approved escalation plan is followed.
For older residents and families
A dependable daily conversation can provide connection for an older adult and reassurance for the people who care about them.
Give a little time. Make a real difference.
Volunteers would make friendly check-in calls, document completed and missed calls, and follow approved resource and safety procedures.
